Adrian Gonzalez Is Having Another Fantastic Season

As of this writing, Adrian Gonzalez currently leads the National League in Fangraphs WAR.

He has been the National League’s best hitter, at 22.3 runs above average, and leads all NL first baseman in UZR (4.4).  After adjusting for playing time and position, Gonzalez has racked up 3.2 WAR, equivalent to nearly $13MM of value.

I know it is obvious, but Gonzalez has been a key reason for the San Diego Padres success this season. Sometimes its fun to just remember how good he is.

I was thinking that if he keeps this pace up, and the Padres stay in contention and/or grab a playoff spot, he just might be able to snag the NL MVP this year.

I hope circumstances conspire in such a way that the Padres keep him. He really is the perfect “face of the franchise” guy for this club.

yup, once again, he’s the man, El Hombre, for the Padres.
maybe this year, he got his slump out of the way early so he’ll be powering the offense the rest of the way.

despite, the fact that the offense is slowly coming along to help the pitching, i’m thinking that if there is a way to get Cliff Lee from the Mariners, the Padres should do it. he can pitch very well into the game and give the bullpen some needed rest and a true ace at starting pitching.

I’m just glad to see he’s still on the team. He is hitting so well with absolutely no protection in our lineup. Just imagine if he had another hitter of is calabor behind him (nothing against Hundley, Headly, or Hairston). He may be hitting .340? Who knows.

    Kind Regards,
    Jeff
