Padres fielding update

I’m updating my fielding conversions (described here) for a post on another site — look for that later this week — so I figured I’d throw out some Padres numbers… here are all Pads with at least 200 innings, ranked in order of runs saved:

Brian Giles: +16.9 runs
Edgar Gonzalez: +5.3
Paul McAnulty: +4.4
Chase Headley: +3.7
Tadahito Iguchi: +3.4
Khalil Greene: +2.2
Scott Hairston: +1.5
Jody Gerut: -2.3
Adrian Gonzalez: -3.1
Jim Edmonds: -3.8
Kevin Kouzmanoff: -5.1

Overall, as a team, I have the Padres at +31 runs, good for fifth in mlb. The Padres are one of the few teams to not have a player (or players) really struggling defensively. Kevin Kouzmanoff (-5.1 runs) has the second best (i.e. closest to average) rating for any player that trails their team, behind only Mark Loretta of HoustonĀ (also -5.1, but technically just ahead of Kouz).
