More at Baseball Analysts

My second article at The Baseball Analysts is up, and it looks at hitters this year using Pete Palmer’s Batting Runs.

I’m going to be writing an article every other Friday for Rich Lederer’s great site. Needless to say, I’m really excited about the opportunity. If you guys have any ideas for articles (think sabermetric type stuff), please feel free to let me know …

Anyway, things should stay about the same around here. My computer issues are the source of the slowness now, but we should be back to a somewhat normal schedule — whatever that is — when I get my computer back (hopefully in a week or so).

Maybe you could touch on ability/value as you did with Khalil (it could work in the context of a MVP discussion).

FYI, in your spreadsheet, the heading is “Per 600″, but the formula is per 650.

ahh, great catch. I’ll see if I can get it changed to “per 650″ in the heading.

I really like the ability/value issue, especially around the MVP voting, like you say. Thanks …

    That’s a solid article, Myron.
I’d be curious to see if Batting Runs catches on.
Like you mentioned, it’s a direct way to see a hitter’s production compared to the league.

    Nice job.

Thanks. fwiw, I think Batting Runs is pretty well established. Though, in general, it seems like the linear weights based stats are well behind stats like Runs Created, in popularity.
