About

Friar Forecast is about baseball.  There is a specific concentration on the San Diego Padres, but baseball is the most basic theme. We tend to look at things from a sabermetric point of view, although we note that sabermetrics does not in any way discourage the use of scouting.

The blog is run by me, Daniel Gettinger, and I’m joined by three great co-bloggers.

Myron Logan founded the site, and writes a bi-weekly(ish) column titled “Myron’s Musings” which examines relevant baseball/Padres topics from a sabermetric perspective.

Ben Davey (Padman) has been here since March, 2008, and he concentrates on Padres prospects. He watches a bunch of games, follows a lot of players, and reads a lot about prospects. He knows prospects.

Mike Rogers is also in the mix, and blogs about a wide array of topics, such as Padres transaction analysis, prospects, and general baseball/sabermetrics.

My goal here is the same as when Myron started this site: create an interesting, entertaining place for Padres fans (and baseball fans, in general) to discuss the team and the game.

I really appreciate anyone who has read the blog, commented, linked, etc. over that time. I hope you will be kind enough to join us in the future.
